Jon Husted

An Ohio native, Jon Husted was first elected to the State Legislature in 2000 to represent the 37th Ohio House district in Montgomery County. He was elected to serve as Speaker of the House in both his third and fourth term.

In 2008, he was elected to the Ohio Senate. As an adoptee, Senator Husted has a strong understanding of the importance of providing women positive alternatives to abortion.

Pro Life Record

Husted has a 100% pro-life voting record.
Husted supported H.B. 474, the Compassionate Care Bill, to promote pain relief and palliative care and deter assisted suicide.
Husted supported H.B. 126 to restrict the use of the abortion pill, RU-486.
Husted supported legislation to approve “Choose Life” License Plates in Ohio.
As Speaker, Husted encouraged the Department of Health to require a Dayton-area abortion facility to comply with Ambulatory Surgical Facility requirements.
As Speaker, Husted supported H.B. 239 which adopted a public policy to prefer childbirth over abortion and adopted restrictions on public funding of abortion in permanent law.
As Speaker, Husted supported legislation which put language in permanent law which gave a preference to local health departments for Women’s Health Services grants and thus prevented almost $1 million in funding that had gone to Planned Parenthood.
Husted supported H.B. 287 which banned wrongful death and wrongful life lawsuits.
Husted supported H.B. 280, the Protecting Pregnant Women from Coercion Violence Act to increase penalties for domestic violence when the offender knew the victim was pregnant and to require abortion facilities to post a “No One Can Force You to Have an Abortion” notice.
Husted supported H.B. 314, the Ultrasound Viewing Option Bill.
